Big pow day in The Boat! 10" overnight and it's still coming down! More snow is on its way through this afternoon and into early Thursday morning. The mountain is currently reporting 16°F mid mountain temperatures and 10 mph wind speeds. 99% area open with 167/169 runs and 14/17 lifts open. Bar-UE lift is not currently running and Lower Valley View and See Me trails are closed. We will provide an update on our Twitter once those have been reopened.
Temperatures will be in the low teens through Friday and the forecast is projecting weather conditions will warm up a bit by Saturday and remain in the high 20’s through next week. There’s no doubt that these cooler temperatures and all this snowfall has helped improve the mountain’s conditions and our upcoming water season, but the Yampa Valley’s snowpack levels still remain below average and we are always hoping to get as much snow as we can.
So far today skiing all over the resort has been amazing. There’s still a lot of untracked powder if you’re willing to look for it! Hike up Christmas Tree Bowl for the deepest pow and test out your skills by going off the rocks and jumps. Today the snow here in Steamboat is really living up to its trademarked name “Champagne Powder”. It's super dry and fluffy and we really couldn’t ask for a better day!
Now that you've read our report, stop what you’re doing and go skiing! Here are the runs we’re loving right now:
- Diamond Hitch
- Christmas Tree Bowl
- Hot Cakes
- Closets and Shadows
- Land of the Little People
- Trees between Twilight and Two O’clock
