Ski season is starting to wind down. The days are getting longer and warmer, and the snow is slowly starting to melt. We had some nice sunshine early this week, with temperatures creeping into the 40s. Then on Monday night through Wednesday we saw light snow showers, which in total brought about 4-6 inches. It looks like we may get a few more inches this weekend as well! This is winter that just keeps on giving!
We recommend heading to the mountain in the afternoon to let the snow soften up a bit as it can be quite icy early in the morning. Try putting some warm weather wax on your skis or board next time you go out. This will help tremendously with the slow slush on the mountain.
The ski season may almost be over on the resort, however springtime is prime time for backcountry skiing! Relatively stable snowpack and high-tide conditions make spring one of the best times to explore Colorado’s backcountry options. South-facing slopes will likely be firm in the morning, but as temperatures rise throughout the day, you can have near-perfect corn skiing!
