Ice Fishing Report: January 16th

The ice fishing has been spectacular the past few weeks and we have had the pleasure of taking out some really fun groups onto the ice. We had a cold spell in December but the days have been a pleasant temperature lately, and when the sun is out it really starts to warm up! We have spotted many eagles cruising around above Steamboat Lake, which is quite the sight on a clear day.

Straightline guide, Ben Rock, took a group out this weekend and they caught some big trout which they took home for a nice trout dinner.

Steamboat Lake has had safe ice for about a month now and all over the fishing has been good! From our time on the water is seems like the pattern and location changes daily so the two keys to consistent success are staying mobile and experimenting with color and depth! Some days the fish are cruising right off the bottom and some days they are suspended mid water column and some days they are only a few feet under the ice!
